Privacy Policy
The short version. AniTrack has no accounts and no sign-up. Nothing you type into the search box is recorded. Analytics and advertising are two separate choices, both switched off until you turn them on, and the whole site works if you decline both.
What is stored on your device
Three small values in your browser’s local storage. None is a tracking cookie, and none is sent to a server:
| Key | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
anitrack.consent | Your analytics and advertising choices, the date you made them, and the policy version they were made against. | So you are asked once rather than on every page, and so the date of your decision is recorded. |
anitrack.theme | Light or dark, if you have chosen one. | So the page does not flash the wrong theme on every visit. |
anitrack.watchlist | A planned feature: series you mark to follow. Not implemented yet. | When it exists it will stay on your device — there is no account to sync it to and none is planned. |
What the server does
AniTrack is not a purely in-browser site, and it would be misleading to imply otherwise. Airing schedules, episode lists and series facts are fetched from AniList by our server and cached, so that pages load quickly and so that we make as few requests to AniList as possible.
That cache holds facts about anime. It holds nothing about you. Your search never reaches AniList attached to anything identifying you, and searches are not stored, logged or analysed.
Our hosting provider records ordinary server request logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent — as every web server does. These are used to operate and secure the site and are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile.
Analytics — off unless you allow it
If you allow analytics, AniTrack records aggregate, cookie-free counts: which pages are viewed, which tables are opened, whether a search returned any results. It is used to decide which parts of the site are worth improving.
Your search terms are never sent. The search event carries only whether the search found anything and how many results there were. This is enforced by the type system rather than by policy — there is no field the query could travel in.
There is no cross-site tracking, no advertising profile built from analytics, and no sale of data.
Advertising — off unless you allow it
The site is funded by advertising. If you allow it, Google AdSense serves display ads, and Google may set cookies and process data for ad delivery, frequency capping and measurement, under Google’s privacy policy.
If you decline, no advertising script is loaded and no ad markup is rendered — not an empty box, not a placeholder, and never a demand that you disable your ad blocker. Every page works identically.
How consent works here
- Nothing is assumed. No stored decision means no consent: analytics and advertising both stay off until you choose.
- They are separate choices. Allowing one never implies the other.
- Declining is as easy as accepting. The two buttons carry equal weight, and the banner never blocks the page or asks again after you have decided.
Withdrawing consent
Withdrawal is as easy as granting. This clears your stored decision and returns the site to its pre-consent state, so you can choose again.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to complain to your local supervisory authority.
In practice there is very little to exercise those rights against: AniTrack holds no account, no profile and no record of what you searched for. Your consent choices live in your own browser and you can erase them yourself with the control above, or by clearing site data. For anything else, or to ask about server logs, email the address below.
Children
AniTrack is a general-audience reference site and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal data from them; there is no mechanism by which it could, since it collects none from anybody.
Changes to this policy
If what AniTrack collects changes materially, the stored consent policy version is incremented, every existing decision is invalidated, and you are asked again. A change to the wording of this page does not trigger that, and is not permitted to.
